We barely had time to get the jars to the classrooms in time for your donations! Please make all checks payable to "U.S. Funds for Unicef" and write "Helping Haiti" in the memo line of your check.

You may have heard this already, but Obama has signed a bill allowing taxpayers to write off any charitable donations to the Haiti relief efforts on your 2009 taxes! This means any donation you make today can be deducted on your taxes for last year instead of waiting until next year. We can always use another tax break!

Sport Chalet has partnered with Soles4Souls to transport and distribute gently used shoes to the citizens of Haiti. Alta Vista would like to support this effort by operating as a collection center for any and all gently used shoes. The deadline for donating on-campus is Friday, January 29 -- one week! So grab a shopping bag, sort through your closets, and retrieve any shoes you are willing to part with.

There will be a box outside the school office designated for donations -- just have your child drop the shoes in there, and we'll make sure to get them to Sport Chalet. Thank you for your time in reading this, and thank you in advance for any contributions you may make.
