"Steppin Out" is run through Beach Cities Health District. They
have generously provided the wellness program and garden without a cost to Alta Vista, and are asking for our support in this. This is not a fund-raiser for Alta Vista and it only
requires a small registration fee.

“Steppin’ Out” is a national challenge to walk 70,000 steps in 7
days from April 21 through 27, Monday through Sunday. Steppin’ Out is a
way for communities across the nation to raise awareness about the
childhood obesity epidemic, become more active, and raise funds for
local childhood obesity programming in a very easy way. Beach Cities Health District is asking for participation from any and
all residents of the three beach cities. We’re teaming up with local
organizations to ask their members to take part, as well.
Although it’s a national challenge, Steppin’ Out is designed to raise
funds specifically for school health programs in the three beach cities.
Here’s how it works: a person registers to participate; they are given
a tip sheet and a pedometer; they wear their pedometer during the
walking challenge (April 21– 27); they report their numbers at the end
of the challenge.
This is not a typical fundraiser where participants are asked to find
sponsors. This is much simpler: you register, you walk. What’s more,
you walk on your time, wherever you want! |
